Doctoral Students

1.Chuck Fountaine

Chuck Fountaine began his doctoral studies as a graduate assistant at NDSU in January 2006 and joined Team Liguori shortly thereafter. In the summer of 2007, Chuck was hired as a lecturer by the department of HNES where he primarily teaches the methods classes in strength training and cardiovascular conditioning.  Chuck is in the final semester in the Wellness PhD program and looks to defend his dissertation in June 2008 entitled "The Association between Physical Activity and Screen Time in College Students".

A native of Kenyon, MN, Chuck made stops at St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN (BA Sports Science, 1997) and the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse (MS Human Performance, 1998). Before arriving at NDSU, Chuck spent eight years(1998-2005) at DHL as AM Operations Lead and four years (1999-2002) as the assistant baseball coach at Augsburg College.Chuck is a member of ACSM, AAHPERD, NSCA, and SBM and has presented several posters at national conventions with Gary and Arupendra. When Chuck and Gary travel, it consists of at least one of the following prerequisites:

1) Is there a baseball game they can attend?

2) Is there NY style pizza, Buca di Beppo, or a microbrewery nearby? And/or

3) Will there be trails to run on?

In his free time, Chuck can be found running, biking, XC skiing, and strength training, and hiking in the great outdoors.  Chuck is an avid Minnesota Twins baseball fan and can often be found in spirited hot stove league discussions with Gary.  Chuck also enjoys teaching (some say corrupting!)  Arupendra about life in America.
